You just had to know that this week’s newsletter was going to be about pro-abortion “Goober the Clown”—that painfully cringe-inducing, terribly unfunny SNL skit (but I repeat myself) from earlier this week. No big wind up for this one, folks. We’re just going to get right into it.
Apparently my take—that the skit is stupid and there are funnier morticians than “Goober the Clown”—isn’t a commonsense one. Witness Vox’s Aja Romano beclown herself (pun most definitely intended) in defense of “one of the starkest political critiques in [SNL’s] recent history.”
Oh, spare me. If Romano is right, I’m the pope.
A clown dressed as a clown decided to defend abortion. Why is this considered brave? Or funny? Or interesting? Or newsworthy? Do you know what possesses a woman (or is it “vagina-haver” or “body with a uterus”?—I can’t keep up) to dress up as a clown to rally to the cause of ensuring that the next generation doesn’t get to grow up to be justifiably creeped out by clowns?
Madness.
This is the final stop of pro-abortion movement’s crazy-train fanaticism: They’ve been reduced to donning clown attire to “argue” for legalized child sacrifice to M̶o̶l̶o̶c̶h̶ the economy / autonomy / gender equality. This is the action of those whose reason has left them. This is the SNL equivalent of a child who holds her breath to force her parents to give her ice cream.
The one has nothing to do with the other. This kind of behavior is deeply unbecoming of a rational creature made in the image and likeness of God.
Becoming convinced that the road to freedom requires hiring a hitman in a white coat to slaughter your child will do that to you, I suppose. It’s not easy living as an intellectual pretzel.
Truly, it’s not worth delving into how “Goober the Clown” is a mendacious liar and misogynist (what else do you call a person who mobilizes women to destroy a quintessential expression of their own femininity—pregnancy, expectant motherhood—on the altar of “choice”?). After all, what does arguing with a clown, taking a clown seriously, make me?
Certainly a clown myself, if not a bigger, dumber one. I refuse.
Besides, you know all the arguments already. For example, who cares if “‘one in three clowns’ will have a clown abortion in their lifetime”? Seriously. If one in three clowns had killed their neighbors, would that make neighbor-murdering acceptable? What about rape? Numerical might cannot determine what’s right. (Besides, it isn’t true.) This is basic Socrates-versus-Thrasymachus and Lincoln-versus-Douglas stuff, folks. Abortion operates according to the “logic” of tyrants, those who rule over others arbitrarily for their private gain. Abortion has nothing to with equality and everything to do with domination and subjugation; it’s neither a “blessing,” nor an “act of love,” nor the path to “freedom.”
These people are deranged; they’ve made that explicit. They really believe that abortion is the foundation of our democracy and that to overturn Roe would “destroy” it. In what sense could this be true, unless democracy means rule by those who were lucky enough to be born?
The Supreme Court needs to put an end to this national nightmare. Let’s pray Brett Kavanaugh is up to the task.
I hope Kavanaugh has the necessary mettle too. And kudos on your promotion to Pope! Well deserved. :)
Is the whole, "I'm a clown, but instead of telling jokes I'm going to lecture you about abortion" schtick supposed to be commentary on how SNL is staffed by a bunch of alleged comedians who prefer stumping for the DNC to making us laugh? Because otherwise, I find this whole thing almost as baffling as it is nauseating. Regardless, nice article, Deion. I join your prayer for Kavanaugh to show some courage in this case.
